Back Ground Information On Lead

Durability
Lead sheet is undoubtedly one of the best materials for durability. For centuries it has been used to cover roofs of cathedrals, churches and stately homes through out the UK. This is proof of its durability. Durability is important when weathering inaccessible areas such as elevated areas.

Appearance
Lead is dark grey in colour when new and will weather to a light grey after 7 - 10 years.

Protection
Lead's resistance to atmospheric pollutants makes it an ideal material for the protection of parapets, cornices and other projections, particularly when used on historical buildings.
All of these projections are vulnerable to water penetration which in turn will lead to dampness penetrating the building. With lead properly installed to these types of projections, lead will provide lasting protection for many years.
